 Federal Law on the Implementation of the International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Concerning Civil Jurisdiction in Matters of Collision of Ships

 


 

 

It is hereby provided as follows:

 

Short title

 

1. This Law may be cited as the Federal Law on the Implementation of the International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules concerning Civil Jurisdiction in Matters of Collision of Ships

 

Interpretation

 

2. In this Law, unless the context otherwise requires -

 

“Convention” means the International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules concerning Civil Jurisdiction in Matters of Collision of Ships, drawn up at the Ninth Diplomatic Conference on Maritime Law and signed in Brussels on the 10th May 1952, as may be in force from time to time in Cyprus;

 

“Department“ means the Department having the responsibility for maritime affairs;

 

“Member” means the member of the Presidential Council heading the Department;

 

“Gazette” means the federal Official Gazette.

 

Competent Authority

 

3. For the implementation of this Law and the Convention, the Competent Authority shall be the Member.

 

Regulations

 

4. The Presidential Council may make Regulations to be published in the Gazette for the better carrying into effect of the prοvisions of this Law and the Convention.
